It’s summer! Woohoo!

For me, the 4th of July holiday in the U.S. has always been what makes me feel like it’s truly summertime. I’m grateful that the holiday helps me to slow my pace, pause, and make time for play.

Below are a few Conscious Ambition Tips to help you make the most of your summer, even if it’s full.

Enjoy!

ICYMI: Come Behind the Book with My Second Summer Workshop

We’re ready for the 2nd workshop, which will be held: Tuesday, July 11 at 12-1:30 pm PT / 3-4:30 pm ET

I’ll offer a new lens of Sustainable Ambition and then share tools around one of the pillars, Right Time, to put Sustainable Ambition principles into practice. We’ll explore how to think about your next life and work arc using a Horizon Map, how to navigate tensions across life and work ambitions, and how to be firm and flex to prioritize what’s important in your life.

I’d love to have you join me! Get it on the calendar here

Can’t attend this workshop, but want to be involved in the book journey? Join in here.

A reminder that the workshops are FREE and in exchange I would simply love your feedback with a short survey and feedback in the session to help me ensure the content is helpful and usable for yourself and others. 🙏

I hope to see you soon! Thanks!

Conscious ambition tips

Right Ambition: That summer feeling.

My good friend, Wade Brill, of Centered in the City, asked this question in a workshop a few years ago, and ever since I go back to it again and again: How do you want to feel this season, this summer? Think about that, and then ask what you can do to create that feeling. For me, I want to feel that the summer is playful, so I'm thinking of ways to add play into my days.

Right Time: Is vacation time!

Summer means it’s time for a mid-year break. Many of us will take time off over the summer. The question is—do we vacation well? Do we actually take a break, allow ourselves to be present, and take in the full experience so we can recover and rejuvenate? I’m a fan of Dr. Rick Hanson’s HEAL method, which in short-hand is about having an experience and then getting the benefits of it by taking it in. It’s a great practice for a summer vacation. Be present for your experiences and really take them in.

Right Effort: What can you put down?

Summer is a good time to cull what’s on your list and challenge yourself to re-prioritize what needs your attention or how you can dial down your effort. Consider: What do you have energy for this summer? What do you want to create space for this summer? What is truly urgent vs. what can you push off or what can you slow down?

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”
