Build Resilience Through Joyful Moments
While we’re optimistic about the new year and the future, we know 2021 will demand we dig deep for even more resilience. One way to fill up your resilience stores is to create daily moments of joy. They don't have to be big or time consuming; frankly, they are even more powerful when they are small things that make you smile. What’s most important is pausing to take them in and feel the positive energy.
Create your Joy List
Write a list of 25 small micro-actions or situations that bring you joy that you can refer to and implement on rotation whenever you need a pick me up. Think: drink a great cup of coffee, take a short walk, revisit photos from a great trip, sit with the sun shining on your face, give someone close to you a hug, take 3 deep breaths, eat a decadent piece of chocolate, listen to a recording of your children laughing, stretch for 5 minutes, watch a bird soar.... You get the idea. What will you put on your joy list? How will you be reminded to pull it out as needed to bring a smile to your face in the moment?
